An overview

Movies are a very popular form of media and have a huge impact on society. I, personally, watch a lot of movies, and enjoy many different films. There are many popular genres, but I would have to say my personal favourites are action movies and adventure movies. I enjoy suspense and action in movies, and I think it makes the movie much more exciting. Movies are huge today, as they have been for many years, and they are very effective in getting across ideas, and entertaining audiences all around the world.

5 - Eagle Eye

One of my favourite movies that I have seen recently is Eagle Eye. There are a number of reasons why I enjoy this movie. For one, it explores the fact that technology is all around us, and what would happen if this technology was used against us. It also makes us examine our morals and what we care about. What would we do if what we loved most were threatened? It also dwells a little bit on political corruption, and makes the statement that the government will do what is best for itself, no matter what the cost to civilians.
Another thing that is interesting about this movie is the main character. He seems lost and without identity when his brother dies. He remembers and talks about how he was always the lesser of the twins, but it is interesting how the least can become the greatest. I think the choice of actors was alright, but I may have chosen a main character that was a little bit older. I also like the action and suspense in the movie. I think this is an excellent movie and highly recommend it to anyone.

4 - National Treasure

I also really enjoy the movie, National Treasure. I also enjoy the second in the series, but it is not quite as good as the first, and it is almost exactly the same in too many ways. I like this movie for many reasons. I really like how the main character, Ben Gates, must search through ancient clues to find what he is looking for. This creates interest in those who watch it, because the audience tries to figure out the clues before the main character can. I think that the sets in this movie are amazing, both in complexity, and in variety. The story takes place in many different areas, and the sets for each, especially the sets for the place they find the treasure, are amazing.
Another thing I like about this movie is the action and suspense in it. The whole movie is a race against the antagonists who are trying to find the treause, and a race to stay one step ahead of the authorities. I also like that there is a little bit of humour, in the form of Ben's 'sidekick' Riley. This makes the movie more entertaining as a whole. I also think that the actors fit the roles in which they play very well. This movie is quite excellent and I thoroughly enjoy it.

3 - The Dark Knight

Another one of my favourite movies is The Dark Knight. This movie is full of details, both large and small, that make it excellent. This movie has generated a lot of interest because of Heath Ledger's death, and this makes people want to see it more. I think that his acting in this movie is excellent. The Joker is, in my opinion, one of the best villains on movies to date. He is wild and psychotic, but at the same time, he is shrewdly intelligent.
This movie also has a bit of a philisophical element to it. It examines how the Joker and Batman are really alike, and they cannot exist without the presence of the other. It also explores what man will do to man when provoked. It is also very interesting how Harvey Dent, Gotham City's hope, turns into Two-Face; an embodiment of both Batman and the Joker. The ending is also very interesting. Batman takes the blame for a crime he does not commit. By doing so, this movie implies that being a true hero requires great sacrifices, and maybe the hate of society. This movie is very good, and I recommend that anyone who has not seen it should do so.

2 - The Matrix

My second favourite movie is The Matrix I enjoy all of them in the Matrix series, but I like the first one the best, as it often is with movies. This is another movie where I like the questions asked by the storyline. There are many philisophical questions and implications in this movie. We ask, 'what if we do live in a non-existant world?'  and 'if we had the option of leaving this contrived reality, would we?'
I like the action of this movie as well. It is quite intense and suspenseful. One thing I do not really like about this movie is the acting. Keanu Reeves' acting is a bit dry, as well as unnatural and overdone. He may look the part, but he does not act it very well. As a whole, the movie is quite entertaining. I really enjoy the overall storyline of the movie and I think it is a fairly original and neat idea, and I think that this movie is overall an excellent one.

1 - Batman Begins

Batman begins would have to be one of my all-time favourite movies. It has pretty much a little bit of everything that I enjoy. I think that the plot is very interesting and asks some tough questions. The movie seeks to ask us if it is right to act outside of the law if necessary. It is darker than some movies I have seen, as Bruce Wayne's parents are killed when he is a small child, and Gotham City is overrun by mobs and gangs. However, I like the background information that I am given in the story, and the complexity it adds to the characters. I enjoy all of the characters in Batman Begins, and I think that the actors chosen for the parts fit their roles very well.
Another aspect of this movie that I like is how Bruce Wayne has no superpowers; he is just a normal human being with skill that he worked at to accomplish. I also like all of the action and intensity of the scenes, and the intricacy of the sets. It also has situations that everyone can relate to, such as being an outsider and trying to find a place in the world, and finding it hard to distinguish between right and wrong.

Target Audience

I think that this movie targets a wide audience. However, I think it does not target children because of the darker materials in the movie. That being said, it is fairly family friendly otherwise, as there is very little obscenities and sexual content. The ideal person to watch this movie would probably be a male, in his early twenties that enjoys movies with a lot of action and suspense. This person would probably watch TV shows such as 24, and prison break. He plays a lot of sports and has a large group of friends. Again, this movie applies to many audiences, so this is just one suggestion of a targeted group of people.
